Kilifi unveils first youth assembly, woman picked as president

  A 24-year-old woman has been sworn in as the first youth assembly president in Kilifi county in a colourful ceremony held at the Malindi Cleopatra grounds. Jacinta Mbeyu Sanga, a fourth-year law student at Kabarak University, was sworn in alongside deputy president Dennis Kazungu, together with 10 cabinet secretaries in an exercise presided over by Malindi chief magistrate Dr Julie Oseko. Kilifi speaker Jimmy Kahindi who was the chief guest at the ceremony  later oversaw the swearing-in of 35 members of the assembly from every ward. The youth assembly is unique as its mode of operation is the parliamentary system and seeks to help in the formulation of policies at the grassroots level and also nurture youth in leadership from an early age to tap various leadership talents within the society. Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua More than Sh350 million was spent on stalled projects in Machakos county according to the latest report by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu. The audit report says Machakos residents could be losing millions of shillings in shoddy projects, questionable payments and grounded vehicles, some of which are only three years old. The queries are contained in the 2018-19 audit report tabled in the Senate last week.  It shows the county executive paid out Sh356.40 million for projects which have stalled. The meeting brought together Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries and Principal Secretaries to, among other matters, deliberate on the status of ongoing National Government programmes covering Big 4 Agenda and Vision 2030 flagship projects. Ford-K rivals clash over meeting to oust Wetang'ula

  Rival factions battling for the control of Ford Kenya have clashed over a National Delegates Congress set to endorse the ouster of party leader Moses Wetang'ula. Wetang'ula has declared as illegal, null and void the November 21 NDC convened by the Wafula Wamunyinyi-led camp, saying it has not been sanctioned by party organs. In a public notice, Wetang'ula asked party members to ignore the meeting, which he maintained has been invalidly convened. "Neither the party nor any of its organs instructed and or authorised Eseli Simiyu to issue the Notice on October 31, 2020 and November 1, 2020," Wetang'ula said. The said NDC meeting has been convened by Simiyu, the party's secretary general who fell out with Wetang'ula and now allied to Wamunyinyi. KMA NEW HEADQUATER IN MOMBASA IS 86 PERCENT COMPLETE

The construction of the Sh.1.8 billion new Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) headquarters building in Mombasa Island has reached 86 percent completion. This was revealed by Transport Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti when she toured the project site at Mbaraki area of the coastal city. The CAS who was on a supervision tour of the facility said she was satisfied with the project's progress saying that the government is committed to the prosperity and development of the blue economy sector. The 15-storey iconic complex billed as the tallest building in Mombasa and whose construction began in February 2017, was supposed to have been completed by September 2019. However, the project was delayed because of “some technical issues’ according to the CAS who said the issues are being addressed. ‘The government and contractor are working round the clock to ensure speedy completion of the project’ she said.
