Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti visit to Lamu County
HON. CAS WAVINYA NDETI LAMU VISIT FOR INSPECTION OF PROGRESS OF WORKS FOR MANDA AND MTANGAWANDA JETTIES

Hon CAS accompanied by the Deputy County Commissioner, David Lusava , County Security team and SDoPW Officers led by Chief Engineer Structural Eng. H. J. N. Nyaanga are on a tour to inspect works by the Ministry of Transport Department of Maritime and Shipping.
MANDA JETTY- MANDA AIRPORT GATEWAY .
The works comprised of demolition of the dilapidated pontoon, rehabilitation of the staircase, Construction of a ramp for people with disabilities and construction of 200m of seawall with boat anchors
Manda Jetty is complete and in use. Local residents were full of praise to the government for the good work.
MTANGAWANDA JETTY
This is the main gateway to Pate island. The dilapidated pontoon had detached and got swept away by the sea water tides.
The works comprise of the reconstruction of the whole Jetty.
The scope of works is reconstruction of the seawall, piling works, concrete decking, ramp for people with disabilities, Jetty Head and Jetty lighting. The contract sum is KShs 72 millions .
The works are 93% and expected to be completed on 12th August,2020.
Addressing the local people and workers on site , the Hon. CAS enumerated the many projects the government has invested in Lamu area. The locals were very happy that the project is nearing completion and will alleviate the suffering which they have experienced for sometime.
She assured that the government will pay all outstanding payments to the contractors very soon.
